QUALIFICATIONS AS AN APPRAISER OF CORPORATE SECURITIES
Mr. Hempstead has had extensive experience in preparing independent valuations of the securities of publicly-traded and closely-held companies. These valuations, and related fairness opinions, have been used in connection with corporate reorganizations, estate tax returns, Employee Stock Ownership Plans, securities litigation and other matters. Mr. Hempstead has testified often as an expert witness on securities valuations in state and Federal courts and has also served as court-appointed appraiser.
Mr. Hempstead is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and holds the designation of Accredited Senior Appraiser in the American Society of Appraisers (ASA) in the discipline of Business Valuation. He has served on the ASA International Publications Committee Review Board. He is a past member of the ASA Committee on Business Valuation and served as Chairman of its Subcommittee on Education. He is also a past President of the Southern New Jersey Chapter of the ASA.
Mr. Hempstead has been a guest lecturer on corporate finance at The Wharton School, Temple University, St. Joseph’s University and Fordham University.
Prior to establishing Hempstead & Co., he was Partner-in-Charge of Corporate Finance at Butcher & Singer, a Philadelphia investment banking firm.
Mr. Hempstead holds an undergraduate degree in electrical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and received an MBA with Distinction from Harvard Business School.
